How county burn bans work
A burn ban is a restriction issued by an authority. A weather forecast or map is not a substitute for the order.
Read the order, not just the map
An official map can help you find a reported restriction. The order itself explains the dates, boundaries, activities, and exceptions. Follow the issuing agency’s instructions when a summary and an order appear to disagree.
The county may not be the only authority
A city, fire district, air-quality agency, state agency, federal land manager, or Tribal government may have rules for the same area. Check the authorities that apply to the specific property or campsite.
A lifted ban does not answer every question
Other outdoor-burning rules and permit requirements may still apply. Do not assume that an activity is allowed just because a county restriction has ended.
