Burn bans, no-burn days, and fire weather
Fire restrictions, smoke restrictions, and weather warnings are different checks.
Fire restrictions
Check the responsible fire authority’s current notice for the activities and area it covers. A county map may not show every city or public-land restriction.
Air-quality restrictions
An air-quality agency may have separate instructions about smoke and permitted burning. California residents, for example, should check the air district as well as the responsible fire agency.
Weather warnings
A fire-weather warning describes weather conditions. It does not replace a permit or a restriction order. Follow the responsible agency’s instructions, and do not use the absence of a warning as permission to burn.
